Time Can Tell

by Fawn on May 18, 2011

I was recently reintroduced to “morning pages.” I first learned of them in Julia Cameron’s book, the Artist’s Way–which now has a pretty nifty Web site. And for awhile, in my twenties, I’d put pencil to paper every morning and write whatever came to mind … until I forgot the meaning behind the practice and quit. It’s not about writing something brilliant, useful, or even legible. The pages, she says, are a way to better understand ourselves.

These two questions plopped on the page today:

“If you had all the time in the world what would you do?”

“If you had a limited amount of time in the world what would you do?”

Your answer to these may give you insight as to what in your life needs to be changed–what can you include or omit to enhance your existence.

It’s official … I’m certified to help people reach optimal health and, in turn, greater happiness. We go by the title “Health Coach” and–with the health of the nation going down the tubes as fast as a Biggie fry going down a gullet–we’re in demand. In a time when medical doctors don’t have more than ten minutes for each patient and the media can’t decide whether the egg is a good food or bad, Health Coaches provide a rare service–guidance and support for those looking to improve aspects of their health. We make sure we have the time to really listen to the concerns and desires of each client, and then help them achieve their goals.

Still, a lot of people–skeptical or just curious–ask what health coaching is all about. [click to continue…]

Did you make any resolutions this year? Or have previous disappointments discouraged you from mentioning the R word?

After years of feeling as though I was missing something by boycotting the tradition, I learned to play a little game with myself.  I learned to name the things I wanted to accomplish ”goals” instead of resolutions. They take on greater importance for me that way and a goal isn’t something you have to wait ’til the first of the year to take action on.  Of course, the beginning of a new year isn’t a bad time to start either. The people behind the 100 Day Challenge know and cater to this tendency.

The 100 Day Challenge could very well be the motivation you need to kick start a new year and a new you. I took the challenge last January and learned things about myself I wouldn’t have otherwise. I’m doing it again and I want you to join me. Though the Goals Guy isn’t officially launching this session until the 3rd, you can start right away. I did. Here’s a short motivational clip, whether you decide to DO the program or not.

Artist is Not Bound by Gender Roles

November 6, 2010

I was privileged to be among a group of people listening to poet and author Jimmy Santiago Baca share his story yesterday during a lecture hosted by The Nature of Words. Though he can tell his story better than I, you’ll likely appreciate a few defining moments in his life, regardless who shares them … like that his [...]
