Time Can Tell

by Fawn on May 18, 2011

I was recently reintroduced to “morning pages.” I first learned of them in Julia Cameron’s book, the Artist’s Way–which now has a pretty nifty Web site. And for awhile, in my twenties, I’d put pencil to paper every morning and write whatever came to mind … until I forgot the meaning behind the practice and quit. It’s not about writing something brilliant, useful, or even legible. The pages, she says, are a way to better understand ourselves.

These two questions plopped on the page today:

“If you had all the time in the world what would you do?”

“If you had a limited amount of time in the world what would you do?”

Your answer to these may give you insight as to what in your life needs to be changed–what can you include or omit to enhance your existence.

It’s official … I’m certified to help people reach optimal health and, in turn, greater happiness. We go by the title “Health Coach” and–with the health of the nation going down the tubes as fast as a Biggie fry going down a gullet–we’re in demand. In a time when medical doctors don’t have more than ten minutes for each patient and the media can’t decide whether the egg is a good food or bad, Health Coaches provide a rare service–guidance and support for those looking to improve aspects of their health. We make sure we have the time to really listen to the concerns and desires of each client, and then help them achieve their goals.

Still, a lot of people–skeptical or just curious–ask what health coaching is all about. [click to continue…]

Because Transition is Scary

by Fawn on April 13, 2011

Yeah, we Amoeba’s encourage personal transformation; but more importantly we’re here to support you along the way. Why? Because transition is scary.

Since its inception nearly 16 months ago, Me Amoeba has gone through a few growths spurts–perhaps a bi-product of the site’s intent. Anyone can encourage people to kick-off the familiarity of their wooly slippers and step onto the barbed path of possibility. But actually doing it, eagerly pricking our little amoeba toes is, it seems, contagious. Point being, the previous changes are microscopic compared to the transformation that’s about to take place. And no, it’s not a boob job. C’mon.

Me Amoeba must expand to truly live its motto: Adapt, Grow, Thrive. If a single-celled organism can (right?), then so can we.

Expect a few nips and tucks to the site in the coming weeks–assuming we find a suitable surgeon. (If you’re a Web developer looking for projects, and your work rocks, please inquire.) Augmentations will include: a new home page; videos and audio files to enhance article appeal; an interactive community for added support and a place to boast; access to targeted, goal-oriented action plans that cater to individual circumstance and readiness to act.

We’re gonna celebrate our new bodacious bod by inviting you on a 21 day tour to better health. We’ll feed you a new video each day, for 21 days, disclosing a tip on how to live a healthier life. Details will follow.

If you can’t wait to feel better, have more energy, enjoy exercising, adopt a diet-style you love and one that nourishes you, sleep better, overcome food addictions, and feel comfortable in your skin … don’t worry.

Ride that motivation and take action. Start a personalized coaching program, with me. One-on-One health coaching sessions are based on bio-individuality and address your specific needs for better success in reaching your wellness goals.

Me Amoeba will host a number of platforms in which you can participate and take action toward improving your health and wellness. Regardless your level of commitment today, we’re designing an action plan that will suit you. Who knows, maybe our progress will be infectious and compel you to tackle those goals you’ve been putting off.

Did you make any resolutions this year? Or have previous disappointments discouraged you from mentioning the R word?

After years of feeling as though I was missing something by boycotting the tradition, I learned to play a little game with myself.  I learned to name the things I wanted to accomplish ”goals” instead of resolutions. They take on greater importance for me that way and a goal isn’t something you have to wait ’til the first of the year to take action on.  Of course, the beginning of a new year isn’t a bad time to start either. The people behind the 100 Day Challenge know and cater to this tendency.

The 100 Day Challenge could very well be the motivation you need to kick start a new year and a new you. I took the challenge last January and learned things about myself I wouldn’t have otherwise. I’m doing it again and I want you to join me. Though the Goals Guy isn’t officially launching this session until the 3rd, you can start right away. I did. Here’s a short motivational clip, whether you decide to DO the program or not.

Recipe for Success: Sometimes that Means Reinventing the Dish

December 19, 2010

I excuse my prevailing Scrooge-like Christmas demeanor by sending my family(s) tins of homemade goodies. The word “goodies” is used lightly and is about as inaccurate as the descriptive word “stacks” when referencing the butterscotch haystacks I attempt for my dad. Instead of sending raw chocolate truffles (appropriate for me and other raw foodists) I decided [...]
